Most folks who have followed Craig Spector’s career know that one of his first loves, before subway-dwelling vampires and sultry werewolf women, is music. With So Lo, his newest release, that love is put on passionate display. It is almost an entirely acoustic effort and because of this, the raw emotion of the songs shines through beautifully without an overabundance of production. Each track is pretty damn good, but the standouts for me were “Love is Just a Word U Say,” “2 Make 3 Make 1,” and “Fades 2 Black.” With So Lo, Spector proves that his musical chops are equal to his literary ones. Highly recommended to fans of bluesy rock.
